The Lake House Remodel

Transforming an outdated lake house into a Swedish-inspired retreat

The home owners came to me wanting to transform an old lake house into a cozy, Swedish-inspired cabin.

The old house was cold and dark, and there were walls that divided the rooms and blocked the views. The previous owner remodeled it in the 80’s and the work was a little outdated.

We completed a whole house remodel, including: new electrical service and removal of old knob and tube, minor seismic hardware installation, moving a couple of walls, building a new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms, installing new floors, adding a small dormer for more light in the upstairs “cabin room”, removing old knock down texture throughout the whole house and skimming walls for preferred smooth wall finish, building a new fire place, changing landscaping outside, adding insulation, and rehabbing old windows to make functional and water proof again.

I worked with them to design and source material that were cost effective and fit the design aesthetic. They love to use the place for dinners and bbqs in the summer, and as cozy retreat in the winter.
